- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour and a pinch of salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup of cold, unsalted butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter and sugar blend to form a crumbly dough.
- Press approximately two-thirds of the dough evenly into the bottom of your prepared baking pan.
- In a large bowl, toss 4-5 cups of sliced Granny Smith apples with ½ cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, ¼ teaspoon of ground nutmeg, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, and 2 tablespoons of cornstarch.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly over the crust in the baking dish.
- Crumble the reserved dough over the apple layer evenly.
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown.
