Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and sugar.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, buttermilk, and hot coffee. Gradually mix into the dry ingredients.
  4. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  6. Heat heavy cream in a saucepan until it simmers, then pour over chopped dark chocolate and stir until smooth to make ganache.
  7. Melt additional dark chocolate, pipe it onto parchment paper to create a nest shape, and let it set.
  8. Layer the cakes with ganache, then coat the outside of the cake with remaining ganache.
  9. Place the chocolate nest on top and fill it with colorful candy eggs.
