Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter 2 sticks
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Continue cooking, stirring frequently, until the butter turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the browned butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Beat with an electric mixer until well combined.
  5. Add the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  6. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula or wooden spoon.
  8. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
