  • 1 cup Boiling Water
  • 1 tbsp Orange Zest
  • 1/2 cup Orange Juice
  • 1 cup Semisweet Chocolate Chips
For the Ganache
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 8 oz Semisweet Chocolate

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth and slightly frothy.
  4. Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients while mixing on medium speed, then add boiling water.
  5. Gently fold in the orange zest and juice along with the chocolate chips.
  6. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  8. Spread a layer of ganache on one cake layer, place the second layer on top, and cover the entire cake with remaining ganache.
  9. Garnish with fresh orange slices before serving.
