Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper adjust for spice preference
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce adjust for spice preference
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Method
 

  1. In a medium bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Add the shrimp and let marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  2. In another bowl, mix together flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F.
  4. Remove shrimp from the buttermilk mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.
  5. Carefully place the coated shrimp in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove shrimp from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. In a small saucepan, combine honey and hot sauce over low heat, stirring until warmed and well mixed.
  8. Drizzle the hot honey sauce over the fried shrimp and toss to coat.
  9. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
