  • 2 tablespoons Butter can substitute with olive oil
For the Taco Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Lime Juice fresh is ideal
  • 1/4 cup Sour Cream
  • 1/4 cup Mayonnaise Greek yogurt can be used instead
For the Blackening Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika adjust for heat
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper adjust according to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Thyme can use dried or fresh
  • 1/2 teaspoon Basil can use dried or fresh
  • 1/2 teaspoon Oregano can use dried or fresh
  • 1 teaspoon Salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper to taste
For Garnishing
  • 1 cup Cabbage or substitute with lettuce or slaw mix
  • 1/4 cup Cilantro omit for allergies
  • 1/4 cup Cotija Cheese feta is a good substitute
For the Tacos
  • 8 units Tortillas corn or flour

Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Blackened Fish Tacos
  1. In a blender, combine fresh lime juice, sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic salt, chopped chipotle pepper, and cilantro. Blend until smooth and creamy, adjust seasoning to taste. Refrigerate.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, cayenne pepper, thyme, basil, oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Melt butter in a small saucepan. Dip each fish fillet in the melted butter, then sprinkle with blackening seasoning evenly.
  4. Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil, and cook the seasoned fish for about 2 minutes on each side until flaky.
  5. Warm the tortillas. Layer shredded cabbage on each, add blackened fish, top with cilantro, Cotija cheese, and chipotle-lime sauce.
  6. Serve immediately with lime wedges and additional toppings on the side.
