- Begin by filling a small pot with about 1/2 cup of water and bring it to a gentle boil over medium heat. Place a large heatproof bowl over the pot, ensuring it doesn’t touch the water.
- Add the unsalted butter and regular marshmallows to the bowl above the simmering water. Stir constantly with a whisk for about 2–4 minutes, until the mixture is completely smooth and glossy.
- Remove the bowl from the heat. Mix in the salt and red food coloring, stirring until evenly distributed.
- In a separate large bowl, pour in your Rice Bubbles. While the marshmallow mixture is still hot, pour it over the Rice Bubbles and quickly mix.
- Lightly oil your hands to prevent sticking and shape the mixture into an oval resembling a brain. Use a butter knife to create a dent in the center.
- Once cooled and set, place the treats in an airtight container to keep fresh for up to a week.
