Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat for about 1 minute. Add minced garlic and chopped shallot, sautéing until fragrant and translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks. Stir frequently for 5-7 minutes until fully browned.
  3. Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and chili flakes. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until glossy and well-combined.
  4. Remove from heat and mix in lime juice and chopped Thai basil. Allow to cool slightly.
  5. Fill a shallow bowl with warm water and gather rice paper wrappers and beef filling.
  6. Dip a rice paper wrapper into warm water for 5-10 seconds until flexible. Lay on a damp surface.
  7. Place a spoonful of beef filling and optional vegetables near the bottom of the wrapper.
  8. Fold the bottom of the wrapper over the filling, tuck in the sides, and roll tightly.
  9. Place rolled Thai Basil Beef Rolls on a platter. Slice in half for visual appeal if desired.
  10. Serve fresh with your favorite dipping sauce.
