  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup chocolate chips optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the sugar until well combined.
  4. Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  8. If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
  9. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  11. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares.
