Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a bowl, combine 2 teaspoons of active dry or instant yeast, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and ¾ cup of warm water. Stir gently and let the mixture sit for 10 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, ½ cup of plain yogurt, and 1 tablespoon of oil or ghee. Mix until it forms a shaggy dough, then knead for about 10 minutes.
- Transfer the kneaded dough to a lightly greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
- Once risen, punch down the dough, divide it into 8 portions, and roll each into an oval shape about 8 inches long.
- Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes, lightly grease it, and cook each naan for about 1 minute on each side.
- Once all naans are cooked, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and mix in minced garlic. Brush this garlic butter over the warm naans and garnish with chopped cilantro or parsley.

Notes
Make sure the yeast mixture is frothy before adding it to the dough. Properly knead for at least 10 minutes for a fluffy texture.
