Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Combine the sugar cookie mix, melted unsalted butter, and egg in a mixing bowl to create a dough.
  3. Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  4. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until lightly golden.
  5. Allow the crust to cool completely.
  6. Beat together softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth, then fold in whipped topping.
  7. Spread cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled crust.
  8. Whisk together instant vanilla pudding mix and milk until thickened, then stir in vanilla extract.
  9. Pour pudding mixture over the cream cheese layer and smooth it out.
  10. Top with remaining whipped topping and smooth the surface.
  11. Sprinkle with festive sprinkles and optional crushed peppermint candies.
  12. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
