Cooking Steps
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter, preferably Irish.
- Add in the diced yellow onion. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until fragrant and translucent.
- Next, add the shredded green cabbage and a pinch of sea salt. Cook for about 5-6 minutes until softened and slightly golden.
- Stir in 2 minced garlic cloves and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Reduce the heat to low, mix in the frozen hash browns and 1½ cups shredded Irish cheddar cheese until combined.
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
- After baking, sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top and return to the oven for 4-5 minutes until bubbly.
- Garnish with freshly chopped green onions before serving warm.
