  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or almond extract
  • 1 pinch salt optional

Method
 

Prepare the dough

Shape and chill
  1. Divide the dough into two portions, roll each into a log, wrap in parchment paper, and chill for at least 1 hour.
Slice and bake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the chilled logs into 1/4-inch rounds and arrange on baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges turn golden.
Cool
  1. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
