Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. With wet hands, shape the mixture into four oval patties, about 1 inch thick.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat with a drizzle of olive oil. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes until browned, then flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes until done. Transfer to a plate.
  4. In the same skillet, add chopped onion and sliced mushrooms. Sauté for about 5 minutes until translucent.
  5. Pour in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce; bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. Whisk together cornstarch with cold water and drizzle into the gravy, stirring for 2-3 minutes until thickened.
  7. Return patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over, and let simmer for about 5 minutes.
