Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Slice the onions thinly. Melt butter (or olive oil) in a large pot over medium heat. Add onions and sauté for about 5 minutes until they begin to soften.
  2. Reduce heat to medium-low and continue cooking the onions for an additional 10–15 minutes until they are golden-brown.
  3. Pour in the broth and bring it to a gentle boil. Stir in the pasta, along with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally until pasta is al dente.
  5. Remove from heat, stir in parmesan cheese until melted, and add in the fresh herbs.
  6. Serve hot, garnishing with additional cheese and herbs as desired.
