Ingredients
  

  • 4 pounds of chicken pieces legs, thighs, or breasts
  • 1 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional for heat

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup and place a wire rack on top.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mix well to create a marinade.
  3. Add the chicken pieces to the bowl and toss until they are evenly coated with the marinade.
  4. Place the marinated chicken pieces skin-side up on the wire rack.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-45 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F and the skin is crispy.
  6. During the last 10 minutes of cooking, brush the chicken with BBQ sauce to glaze it. Return to the oven to finish cooking.
  7. Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
