Ingredients

For the Meat Mixture
  • 1 pound Ground Beef Adds protein and a hearty flavor; substitute with ground turkey for a lighter option.
  • 1 pound Sausage Contributes richness and spice; omit for a beef-only version or use a veggie substitute.
  • 6 ounces Pepperoni Provides a classic smoky flavor; can be replaced with turkey pepperoni or omitted for a milder taste.
For the Cheese
  • 2 cups Mozzarella Cheese The main cheese for melty texture; provolone or cheddar can also enhance the flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese Offers a crisp cheesy crust; it's optional but recommended for deeper flavor.
For the Sauce and Base
  • 1 cup Pizza Sauce Adds moisture and flavor; a homemade or store-bought variety works well.
  • 1 package Pie Dough Forms the base; store-bought is convenient, but homemade can add a personal touch.
For Cooking
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil Used for cooking meat; any cooking oil can serve as a substitute.

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • deep-dish pan
  • Oven

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). If using store-bought pie dough, let it soften for about 10 minutes, then press it into a deep-dish pan. Prick the bottom with a fork and pre-bake for 10 minutes until lightly golden.
  2. In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and sausage, seasoning with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Sauté until browned, about 7–10 minutes.
  3. Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce over the pre-baked crust. Layer mozzarella cheese on top, followed by the meat mixture. Spoon another layer of pizza sauce and more mozzarella cheese, then scatter pepperoni and sprinkle with Parmesan.
  4. Place the pie in the oven and bake for 25–30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  5. Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for 5–10 minutes before garnishing with fresh parsley and serving.
