Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, then gradually add flour, baking soda, and salt to achieve a smooth dough.
  3. Portion the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Flatten each ball gently.
  4. Bake cookies for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden brown. Allow to cool on sheets for 5 minutes then transfer to a wire rack.
  5. Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second intervals until smooth. Let cool slightly.
  6. Dip tops of the cookies in melted chocolate, add candy eyes and use licorice to make spider legs.
  7. Optionally, sprinkle with colorful Halloween-themed sprinkles. Allow chocolate to set for 30 minutes to an hour.
  8. Serve your finished Spooky Spider Cookies to guests at your Halloween gathering.
