Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Wash 12 ripe strawberries under cool running water, scrub gently, then pat dry and trim their tops to create a flat base.
  2. Knead black food coloring gel into 2 ounces of white fondant until evenly distributed; set aside and dust workspace with powdered icing sugar.
  3. Dust the clean work surface with ⅓ cup of powdered icing sugar, then roll out white and black fondant to about 1/8 inch thickness.
  4. Cut out oval shapes from the black fondant for mouths and triangles from white fondant for teeth; arrange pieces for assembly.
  5. Use a tiny dab of water to attach white teeth to black mouth pieces; apply writing icing around the top of the strawberry and attach the mouth piece.
