Ingredients
  

For the Meatloaf
  • 1 lb Ground Beef Use a mix with some fat for moisture.
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs Plain breadcrumbs or crushed crackers work.
  • 1/2 cup Milk Buttermilk or water can substitute.
  • 1 large Egg For binding.
  • 1 small Onion Finely chopped; shallots can be used.
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
For the Glaze
  • 1/2 cup Ketchup Base of the glaze.
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar Pack it tightly.
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce For added umami.

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, salt, and pepper.
  3. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place in a greased baking dish or loaf pan.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce to create the glaze.
  5. Spread half of the glaze over the meatloaf.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Spread remaining glaze over the meatloaf and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  8. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
