Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 170°C (340°F). Cream together unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Gradually add the eggs, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
  3. Sift together self-raising flour, black cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  4. Fold the dry mixture into the creamed butter and sugar, alternating with milk.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased baking tin and bake for 45-50 minutes.
  6. Allow the cake to cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Beat unsalted butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar and mix until smooth.
  8. Incorporate green food coloring until desired shade is reached.
  9. Cut the cooled cake into circles that fit your jars.
  10. Layer cake and buttercream in jars, finishing with a dollop of buttercream and fondant decorations.
